BATT Lab earns AASHTO accreditation

The binder laboratory within Blankenship Asphalt Tech and Training (BATT Lab) has passed rigorous third-party assessments to receive accreditation from the AASHTO Accreditation Program (AAP). The accreditation was officially awarded on May 19, 2022.

Our clients deserve the absolute best in services as well as reliable results from our testing procedures. AASHTO is the largest accrediting body in the construction materials industry and the most widely accepted, and accreditation is a recognized sign that we follow the highest standards in all our processes.

We offer full asphalt binder testing services from quality control checks to full classification. We also offer blending and formulation capabilities to help clients produce asphalt pavements that meet performance standards for longer life with less cracking and rutting.

To qualify, the BATT Lab’s technical staff had to demonstrate each test method in its entirety and submit the testing apparatus associated with each test to a thorough inspection by third party assessors. An in-depth review of the laboratory’s quality management system was also conducted, including records of technician training and competency evaluations, and equipment calibration and check records.

To maintain accreditation, the BATT Lab will undergo a detailed review of all accreditation requirements biennially, including yearly participation in the AASHTO resource proficiency sample programs.
